PhD Civil Engineer; BSc Mathematics Chemic
Ignacio Segura (Madrid, 1979) obtained his BSc in Chemistry (Materials’ chemistry) in 2003 from the Universidad Complutense de Madrid, and got a PhD in Civil Engineering with honours from the Polytechnic University of Madrid (2008). Professional with more than 10 years of experience, with different interests and activities: researcher, university teacher, entrepreneur. For this time I have been involved in several scientific and technical top-level projects, always working close to the Civil Engineering industry, to provide technical and scientific answers to their problems and needs.
He puts together his research activities with the work at the academia by collaborating in the formation of Civil Engineers. He is involved in Master studies as well as he is supervisor of several PhD thesis in different topics related with Construction Engineering and Structures. Involved on joining the scientific development with the industrial needs.Enthusiastic on giving answer to real engineering problems from science.
His research topic is the multi-scale approach to the design, development and characterisation of structural concrete, from a comprehensive point of view: material-structure; design-set in place-durability. Such a comprehensive point tries to integrate several aspects which influence the final performance of materials and structures: geology, materials characteristics, design and project, set-in-place, control methodologies, durability. Finally, the main aim is to provide a comprehensive response to real problems.
He is Associate Professor at the Civil and Environmental Engineering of UPC since 2020, giving lectures in the subjects related to Chemistry of Materials, Construction Materials, Advanced Construction Materials, Characterisation Techniques of Construction Materials and Durability of Construction Materials.
